Winter newsletter 2005 |
Submitted by Susan Dunker |
| Happy Holidays and Greetings from the Indiana Association of Prevention Professionals (IAPP) Board of Directors! We would like to share with you the most recent information regarding your professional association: |
| Membership Renewals |
| Our IAPP Coordinator, Melia Carlton, has
sent out all IAPP membership renewals for 2006. If you have
not received a membership renewal notice, please contact Melia
at (317) 398-7299 or iapp@fspp.org.
Your continuous membership includes free Continuing Education
Units (CEUs) earned after January 1, 2003 and attendance at
the annual IAPP meeting. Please remember our changes in the
renewal process as noted in our August, 2005 newsletter -- if
you have not paid your membership dues by March 31st, 2006,
your membership renewal fee will increase from $50.00 to $75.00
for the duration of the calendar year. |
| Re-Certification Information |
| If your certification is expiring December
31, 2005, hopefully you have received your re-certification
application. If you have not received this application, contact
Melia Carlton at the IAPP office. The application is due by
December 31st, 2005, with a grace period ending February 28,
2006. The cost, which is separate from your annual membership
dues, is $20 for a three-year certification. If you choose to
not re-certify by February 28, 2006, you will be required to
pay for and attend the “Principles of Drug Abuse Prevention”
training and then re-apply for your certification. Re-certification
forms are available on our website at www.preventionprofessionals.org.
Melia is processing the applications as they are received, so
please send them in with all of your Continuing Education Unit
(CEU) requirements as soon as possible. There will be no charge
for CEUs earned after January 1, 2003 for IAPP members who have
maintained continuous membership each year. If your IAPP membership
has lapsed, you have the option of submitting CEUs at $10.00
per hour, or paying previous membership fees to bring your membership
up-to-date. |
| Address Change Notification |
| If you are not receiving mailings from the
IAPP, please contact the IAPP coordinator, Melia Carlton at
iapp@fspp.org to verify what
address the IAPP has on file. Those who might change work addresses
or have difficulty receiving all IAPP mail at their work address
should consider using their home address as their contact information
for the IAPP. |

| The IAPP Annual Meeting and Newest Board Members |
| The IAPP Annual Meeting was held on October 21st at Jonathon Byrd's in Indianapolis. At the meeting, our newly elected members of the Board of Directors were introduced: Jennifer Kelley, Community Prevention Specialist and Research Associate from the Indiana Prevention Resource Center, Kim Linkel, who serves as a Community Consultant for the Governor's Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana and Tonia Richards, the Aquatic/Teen Director from the Decatur County Family YMCA. We welcome them to the Board, and look forward to working with them! Also at the meeting, Board member Chuck Kime presented an enjoyable workshop on “Goal-Driven Activities”. Thank you, Chuck for an entertaining and informative hour! |
| Other Board Changes |
Due to conflicting scheduled meetings in the counties she serves as a Community Consultant with the Governor's Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana, Ruthann Walton has reluctantly resigned from the Board of Directors. Her term was to serve through December, 2006. Vacancies occurring in the Board of Directors due to resignations are filled by a majority vote of the Board Members. During the November meeting, the Board voted in favor of Susan Dunker serving Ruthann's final year of her term. Thank you, Ruthann for your service to the IAPP Board!
We also would like to thank our Vice-President, Christine Brown and Board Member Joe Thayer, whose terms end December 31, 2005 for their time, contributions and service to the IAPP. You both will be missed! |
